The OLD Me!
From 201 to 134

My emotional journey from Flab to Fab!

For years, I did everything “right", but I was getting all the wrong result. I have been battleing my waisteline for as long as I can remember. I started picking up extra pounds after I had my kids. As every women knows, once you have kids, everything is about them. "Me" time didn't exist anymore.

And my husband, God love him, would complain that I didn't have time for him either. And that led to all sorts of problems with us. When you feel bad about yourself, the last thing you want to do is to be touched by anybody else. I looked miserable and I felt misereble. As my kids got older, I had more time, but it seemed my metabolism had slowed down. It felt like it didn't even work.

I Looked and Felt Miserable, So I Tried it all!

Over the years I badly wanted to feel good about myself once again. So with the little I had to give myself, I tried all the usual ways people try to drop the excess baggage they carried. For me this was both physical and emotional. I had a husband who wasn't happy because I wasn't happy and a waistline that kept expanding in the mirror. I had to do something!

So, I gave up foods I loved and did what everyone does:

-I counted calories like it was my job,
-I walked in the cold Ohio air until my toes went numb,
-I even joined a gym—me, a gym!
-I paid for a personal trainer who cheered me on while I counted reps and secretly counted the minutes until I could leave.

For years things went on this way. I finally began to give up and tried less and less to drop the pounds that I had accumulated.

And still, after all that, my body clung to every inch like it was part of my identity. UGH!

Things Took a Turn Before My Florida Vacation...

About nine months ago, everything came to a head. I went to try on clothes for my winter vacation and NONE OF THEM FIT! I was mortified once again over my waistline. In the winter months in Ohio, one can forget about how they look. You are hidden by excess clothing. That day, I no longer wanted to go to our Florida condo.

So here I was packing for our annual winter vacation trip, bawling my eyes out over going to our Florida condo—a getaway I usually looked forward to all year. But when I tried on my summer clothes, nothing fit. Not a single thing.

I stood there in front of the mirror, surrounded by swimsuits and sundresses that mocked me.

I felt really disappointed and discouraged!

In Ohio winters, you can hide behind layers. But in Florida? There’s nowhere to hide. I didn’t want to feel exposed. I didn’t want to feel ashamed.

My husband noticed my mood change. One day he asked what was wrong, and I snapped. I don’t even remember what I said. Something defensive. Something bitter.

He just looked at me—tired of my frustration, tired of the mood swings—and walked away. And who could blame him?

I wasn’t just heavy. I was heavy to be around. I was carrying sadness, self-doubt, and disappointment everywhere I went.

Then came an unexpected spark!

I Never Thought Facebook Would Come To My Rescue!

One evening, scrolling through Facebook, I saw a photo of my old friend Lisa. My jaw dropped. She looked… incredible. I barely recognized her. She was glowing, confident, half the size she used to be.

She has  changed so much! I needed to know what was behind it and how she did that!.

I messaged her immediately. “What’s your secret?” I wrote.

She responded like sunshine. So full of joy and energy. She said her life had completely turned around—and she shared her discovery: a simple ice water recipe.

I was skeptical. Really? Ice water? But I was also at the end of my rope.

So I tried it.

At first, nothing happened. The scale didn’t budge. My jeans still pinched. But about a few  weeks in, I noticed something—something small. My jeans weren’t biting into my waist the way they used to. A few days later, I caught my reflection in a shop window and paused. Was that… a little curve in my waist?

I decided to check it out and stepped on that dreaded machine which I did not want to see again. I was prepared for disappointment. But when I looked down, my eyes filled with tears.

I was down 8! Really! 8 was gone!

And from that moment, it kept going down!

I Can't Believe How Much I Changed!

THE NEW ME!

Free and Happy!

Week after week, I shrank. My clothes began to fit again. Then they became loose. Then I bought smaller sizes. I was becoming someone new—someone I hadn’t seen in years.

My mood lifted. I laughed more. I felt lighter in every way. My husband noticed right away—not just the physical change, but the joy. The ease. The smile that stayed. He always said he loved me as I was, but now he had a wife who radiated happiness. That, he said, was priceless.

Eventually, I felt strong enough to jog. Me! Jogging!

And now… I don’t hide behind sweaters or cancel beach vacations. I embrace them. I embrace ME!

The woman I am now is full of energy, purpose, and confidence. The kind of woman who shares her ice water recipe with everyone she knows—because this transformation isn't just about size or look. It’s about freedom!
